Routines
Although everyday is different when childminding I do have some structure to our days as babies and children love to know what is coming next and it helps them to feel more confident and secure.
Our days are relaxed and fun and a mix of both adult and child led activities as required by the EYFS. I ensure children have plenty of free access to choose their own resources as well as setting up activities that are geared towards the children’s current interests.
A typical day at Pixie Tots looks something like this:
7-8:30am : Settling in, Breakfast, Free-play
8:30-9am : School and Pre-school run
9-11:30am : Most mornings are spent at playgroups (For a list see here) or maybe at the park, down the allotment or rec. If the weather isn't so good it will be an adult led activity at home.
10am : Snacktime
11:30am-12:30pm : Pre-school run, lunchtime
12:30-2:45pm: Storytime followed by an adult led activity. Lots of freeplay :-)
2:45-3:15pm :School and Pre-school run
3:15pm : Snacktime
3:30-5:00pm : Older children can do homework followed by Free-play, arts & crafts or a trip to the park
